Charts Overview

Charts provide a quick way to absorb data and understand a security's performance. They provide vast amounts of data in an efficient, user-friendly, customizable format, making it easy to analyze price and volume movements in real time.

Basic Charts

Use Basic Charts to quickly build customized charts based on parameters you set. Within the Quotes tabs, select Basic Charts.

  1. Enter symbols you want to chart, separated by commas, in the Enter Symbols box at the top right side of the page.
  2. Click on the dropdown menu next to Type at the top of the chart and choose a Bar, Line, Candle or Area chart type.
  3. Next to the chart type, choose a Time Frame for your chart in the dropdown menu next to Period. Choose a time frame including Days, Months or Years.
  4. To the right of the chart time frame, select an Upper Study to add from the dropdown menu. Here, you can choose to add Chart Moving Averages, Bollinger Bands and more. You may display up to three Upper Studies at one time.
  5. Add Lower Studies from the drop down to the right of the upper study dropdown menu. Choose up to three lower studies. Choose from Volume, various Oscillators, Momentum and more.
  6. After studies are displayed, click on the Study Label to view a dialog box and modify the parameters of that study. Change your interval value, then click Draw to view the study with new values. Click on the black X next to the study label to remove the study.
  7. Select the check boxes at the top of the chart to display a Logarithmic or Linear Scale, and display or remove Gridlines or a Crosshair cursor.
  8. Customize and save your chart view with Saved Settings. This feature allows you to create a chart view based on the parameters you prefer, including upper and lower studies, time period, and type of chart. Click on New, enter a name and click Add. You can save up to five different settings which will persist after log off or until you delete it.
